Cordless Telephones Affords You The Freedom To Move
Cordless telephones allows you the freedom to move about your dwelling and its environs while still giving you much of the traditional features of a corded phone. This small miracle is possible through the use of a handset that is wireless and that uses radio waves in order to transmit your conversations to a base connected to your home phone line.
What differentiates a cordless phone from its wireless counterpart is what is known as a base, or base station. Most of these cordless phones have a set limit that allows a conversationalist only so much area to wander in before the signal breaks up. Although that range has improved dramatically compared to earlier models because of the introduction of systems that use higher frequencies.
In the beginning when the lower frequencies were used the technology had a few problems. Sending and receiving range was extremely limited, sound quality was not ideal, and privacy was virtually nonexistent. Static and noise interfered with transmission because appliances and walls blocked the signal. Conversations were not secure because anyone else with a cordless headset was able to pick up on almost any conversation in their immediate area because radio frequencies used by the phones were limited.
Performance of the cordless phone greatly improved when the ones in charge allowed the use of the higher radio frequencies and a greater number of them. Electricity required for the operations of the phones were also reduced as a result. Static and noise decreased considerably and as a consequence sound quality rose. Sadly though roaming area did not increase by very much.
The two major parts of a cordless phone are a base station and a wireless handset. Functions assigned to the base are at least threefold. It interfaces with your home telephone line to send and receive signals through it. It acts the part of a radio in order to broadcast and receive the signals to and from the handset. Signals that come through the telephone line interface, user controls, and the speaker phone (if available) are also amplified.
The standard handset equipment (dialing keypad, microphone, and speaker) are present in a cordless handset along with all the equipment required for a radio receiver and transmitter. A battery that is rechargeable is also included as it is necessary for operation, unlike its corded counterpart.
Cordless telephones and their use affords you a greater freedom in movement when you are compelled to put the handset next to your ear after it rings. The listener at the other end of the line is able to hear your conversation via the base station.
