Common Cellular Shades Mistakes
Just like anything else, people are bound to make mistakes with cellular shades. Since the shades are designed to help insulate your home, among other things, certain mistakes can make them ineffective. Therefore, you want to avoid these four mistakes to get the maximum insulation from your blinds.
#1 Measuring Wrong
Cellular shades are energy efficient if they fit properly. Measure wrong and your blinds are a quarter inch too narrow and thus lose some of their ability to conserve energy.
Measuring problems are even worse when you are trying to get blackout shades. A little too narrow or a smidge too short and light floods in through the sides and bottom.

#2 Ordering the Wrong Type

#4 Not Considering Safety Factors
While the majority of blinds are safe and will remain safe, you should consider safety factors when installing blinds. Some continuous loop blinds and Roman shades have been recalled for child safety reasons. The cords can and have caused a choking/strangulation hazard for small children. Since child safety is always a primary concern, consider the location of the blinds and available safety options when installing blinds.
Solution - The Window Covering Safety Council recommends only installing cordless blinds and shades in homes with small children.
