Great for cats!
I have an old Dremel MiniMite that I use on my cats claws. The only difference I can see from the pet version is the MiniMite has a rechargeable battery and a few different bits. Pet version rpm's is a little higher. The MiniMite does what I need it to do. My cat doesn't seem to mind as long as I use the slow speed. I'm not sure if it also makes a difference that I changed the sanding tube to a finer grit than the one it originally came with. I think the vibration is the issue not the noise. I decided this because I have an extremely loud vacuum cleaner and my cat will continue to nap when I am vacuuming just a few feet from her. She doesn't even flinch. I think it's what she feels, not what she hears, that disturbs her.
I use the Soft Paw nail caps on her. When they fall off, the nail underneath is long and sharp. I still have to trim the tips of the nails with the nippers then use the Dremel to file the nail down to where I need it and sand away the old glue. I have a video on YouTube that I took of my cat when I was replacing a cap. MissBiscuit823, "Kitty gets her manicure". You can see how she jerks away when I forget and put it on the high speed. She is so good when I do her nails but I can tell you that didn't happen overnight. It takes time and patience to get your pet to accept the whole nail grooming process. You can expect your pet to be resistant in the beginning.
There are lots of videos on YouTube where people and professionals give tips on how to do your pets nails. There's some very good tips but also a lot of videos where you can clearly see what the pet owner is doing wrong! I've seen people trying to use Pedipaws which is like a Dremel and they are doing it totally wrong and frightening their pet. In the end they decide the product is to blame when it's obviously not the tool that's the problem.
Also, I know several manicurists that use the Dremel to sand away callouses from the feet when doing pedicures. Don't know how they sanitize it but there's another use for the Dremel you may not have thought of.

Very good tool for dogs nails. It is quiet and does not scare the dog. It has enough power to get the nails done without running out of power. Very easy to handle with a scared dog. Just make sure you get a course sanding drum, it does not come with one, but they are cheap.

I typically use other handheld multitools, but since my last one broke I opted for the Dremel 750-02 Minimite. I like that it is cordless because it's hard to find an American 20-20st century wall outlet in all of space and time. I can charge it, take it with me, and bring it home no problem. It also has surprising power, like the motor is bigger on the inside.
It has a different range of function than your typical sonic screwdriver, less door opening, but it cuts through a variety of materials with the proper bits and is very good for any alien tech that you have to gerryrig to stop a planet from blowing up for instance.
All in all it is pretty advanced for early 20th century earth, I would like to see better performance, but Dremel only continues to improve in the following years.

Great dog nail trimmer
Love this little dremel! Sometimes I use the high speed, sometimes the low speed, but my dogs have never had nails that are so short or so soft. I've used the Pedipaws, but it doesn't have enough power to get my big standard poodle's heavy black nails. This works great, hopefully I'll be able to work the quicks shorter by using it frequently. The best thing is that my dog doesn't mind having it done. A few treats and they're begging to have their nails done.

Handy drill.
I've owned a Dremel before, and was very pleased with it. This Dremel has some new features that I really like. The battery goes into the charger and the drill only one way, so you don't get confused on which way to put it in. I really like that. It goes at the slower pace versus a power drill, and that is great for hand crafted items. Easy to hold and do any task needed. With it being cordless you can take it anywhere you need to work on things. I am a happy Dremel owner.
