A home based business requires a better than average phone. Usually a 2 line cordless phone with extra features is the answer. It is the mix of a home phone and business system that fits the home based business perfectly. Panasonic has always been a big player in the phone market. The KX model is their chance to dominate the 2 line cordless phone with answering machine market.
The new model starts with a one year warranty and includes one headset in the box. The new line is an upgrade of the latest DECT tech revolution. DECT improvements in cordless technology are along three modes. It includes an expanded range. In addition, the phone call clarity has been greatly improved. Lastly, security was upgraded to prevent identity theft. The phone book is well ahead of its competitors. It is capable of handling over six hundred numbers and names. That is well above anyone else.
Of course it includes an answering machine. Like most other brands it is a digital model. They have more recording time than most of the other phones in the 2 line cordless phone market. Forty minutes is above the average of twenty five minutes. A cool addition is the intercom and conferencing capabilities. Three way conferencing is easy for nearly anyone. The base unit also features voicemail and caller ID. The voicemail has and indicator light. Caller ID is a plus but you do pay a monthly fee from ATT. If you want to expand the handset network it is easy enough. Six handsets can be added with no problem.
Battery life is always a concern with phones of any type. That is why any increased battery life is a major plus. They increased it by over 30%. I really like that feature. If you want to add a headset it is simple. Bluetooth headsets fit the network configurations. An interesting feature is the nighttime mode. Not only is there a good LCD screen but they added a ringing system. You can pick a headset to ring quietly during the night. I never even thought of that before I found out that they had this feature. Another helpful feature is the indicator light when there is a new message. The nighttime mode also has a clock and alarm.
The Panasonic LX is a tough competitor with many good features. If I had one negative it would be the price. It is on the higher end among the competition. It retails for around $197. Usually, other units run around twenty five dollars cheaper.
